Maritime Pilots' Strike Halts Grain Exports on Paraná River

| Argentina

Maritime pilots walked off the job after the Milei government published a decree deregulating river navigation services, halting ship traffic in and out of Argentina's grain ports along the Paraná River. At least 45 vessels were stranded during the roughly 24-hour work stoppage. Argentina is the world's largest exporter of soybean products and a major exporter of corn and wheat, with the vast majority of those shipments moving through Paraná River terminals, so the strike immediately disrupted commercial agricultural trade.
