Indicted Senator Inzunza Leaves Morena's Senate Bloc After Refusing to Take Leave

|AMLO (2018–2024)

Enrique Inzunza Cázarez, the Morena senator indicted by the U.S. in April 2026 for alleged Sinaloa Cartel protection ties, left Morena's Senate parliamentary bloc after months of resisting internal pressure — including from bloc coordinator Ricardo Monreal — to request a leave of absence. Inzunza, who had accumulated 118 days of physical absences from the Senate amid the case, said he would continue exercising his seat independently rather than take leave. He remains a senator but without party-group affiliation; he did not resign from Morena itself.
