Kagame, Benioff and ITU Launch AI for Good Global Commission with 40+ Founding Members

Rwanda's President Paul Kagame, Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff, and ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin announced the launch of the AI for Good Global Commission on July 2, 2026, ahead of its inaugural meeting during the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva. The Commission brings together more than 40 Founding Members — heads of state and government, industry CEOs, and heads of UN agencies — including Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark, Cohere co-founder Aidan Gomez, Microsoft President Brad Smith, and Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang. Co-chaired by Kagame and Benioff, with Bogdan-Martin as Vice-Chair, the Commission's stated purpose is to define practical pathways to strengthen trust, expand access, and unlock AI's potential to solve real-world challenges. A key focus is bridging digital divides: with 2.2 billion people still offline, the Commission aims to ensure AI does not deepen existing global inequalities. Kagame said 'technology is supposed to be a force for good, and we have a responsibility to use it accordingly,' while Bogdan-Martin noted that 'no organization can single-handedly put AI at the service of all humanity.'
