Pakistan Formally Rejects UN Experts' Claim of 'No Credible Evidence' for TTP Attacks from Afghan Soil
Pakistan's government issued a detailed official statement formally rejecting UN human rights experts' claim that there was 'no credible evidence' TTP attacks inside Pakistan were directed or controlled from Afghan territory. Pakistan cited multiple authoritative sources in its rebuttal: the 35th, 36th, and 37th UN Security Council Monitoring Team reports documenting TTP presence in Afghanistan; SIGAR assessments documenting 13,000–23,000 foreign militants in Afghanistan including 6,000+ TTP fighters; over 600 documented TTP attacks launched from Afghan soil; and assessments from Russia, the CSTO, and Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Pakistan questioned what additional evidence the UN experts required, characterizing their position as politically motivated and inconsistent with UN Security Council monitoring team findings. The statement significantly raised diplomatic stakes at the Urumqi talks.
