Pakistan FM: 'Firmly Committed to Eradicate Terrorism' — No De-escalation Signal

| Afghanistan War

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar gave a public statement one day after the Eid ceasefire expired, declaring Pakistan 'remains firmly committed to eradicate the menace of terrorism' and that Pakistan's military actions inside Afghanistan 'are directed towards this goal.' The statement made clear Pakistan does not intend to pursue a comprehensive de-escalation and that future military operations remain on the table if TTP or ISIS-K attacks inside Pakistan continue. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey — who brokered the original Eid truce — were reported to be exploring the feasibility of a longer-term ceasefire framework, but Pakistani officials indicated no new mediation effort was imminent.
