Satellite Imagery Confirms Omid Drug Rehabilitation Center Destroyed by March 16 Strike

| Afghanistan War

Commercial satellite imagery analysis published on March 22 confirmed the complete destruction of the Omid Drug Rehabilitation Center in Kabul's Khair Khana district, which was struck by Pakistani F-16 jets on March 16. The largest building on the compound and two smaller structures were described as 'completely destroyed' with rubble visible in high-resolution imagery. At the time of the satellite assessment, the confirmed death toll stood at 143 people, mostly patients undergoing treatment. Afghan and UN officials were still processing casualty figures from the debris, with the final toll expected to rise significantly. Pakistan had claimed the facility harbored TTP militants, an allegation Afghan authorities and survivors denied.
