TTP Announces 3-Day Eid Ceasefire Inside Pakistan
The Pakistani Taliban (Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, TTP) announced a three-day Eid ceasefire, hours after Pakistan and Afghanistan declared their own temporary pause in fighting. TTP spokesman Mohammad Khurasani said the ceasefire was intended to allow people to observe Eid al-Fitr, with the truce set to take effect from the first day of Eid subject to a moon sighting. The TTP, while separate from but allied to the Afghan Taliban, has stepped up attacks inside Pakistan since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in August 2021. The simultaneous ceasefire announcements were seen as a coordinated de-escalation driven by Gulf and Turkish mediation.
