Yemeni Government Claims Recapture of Mocha and Dhubab as Offensive Begins

| Yemen Conflict

Yemeni government forces said they retook the Red Sea port of Mocha and the Dhubab district near Bab al-Mandeb, and launched what they called a strategic offensive toward Sanaa after Presidential Leadership Council head Rashad al-Alimi ordered all army branches to fight 'until the liberation of the country'. The army claimed 1,747 Houthi fighters 'neutralised' in 1,122 operations and 364 vehicles destroyed; these figures are unverified. Reports say the Houthis hold about 150 km of Red Sea coast and have cut the Taiz-Aden supply route. The Saudi-led coalition reported 97 attacks on Houthi positions around Taiz on Oct 5.
