Battle of Vimy Ridge — Canada's Defining Moment

| World War I

All four divisions of the Canadian Corps attacked Vimy Ridge simultaneously for the first time, capturing a feature that French and British forces had previously failed to take twice. The battle was meticulously planned using realistic models, rehearsal, and creeping barrages, becoming a model for Allied tactical development. Canadians captured over 4,000 prisoners and 54 guns. Vimy Ridge became the defining event of Canadian national identity and is commemorated as Canada's most important battle.
