UEFA Urges US Court to Deny FIFA Subsidiaries' Bid to Join Infantino Discovery Fight

UEFA urged a Manhattan federal court to reject an attempt by FIFA's American subsidiaries — FIFA (Americas) Inc and FWC2026 US Inc — to intervene in UEFA's bid to obtain evidence for a planned Swiss criminal complaint against FIFA president Gianni Infantino over the abandoned $4.2 billion World Cup stake-sale plan. UEFA said the subsidiaries were 'improperly trying to act as stand-ins for FIFA and Infantino,' neither of whom has itself sought to join the case, and argued they have no direct legal interest in the New York proceeding since they are not targets of the contemplated Swiss case and are not recipients of UEFA's proposed subpoenas of Josh Kushner, Thrive Capital, and former Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei. UEFA added that any confidentiality concerns belong to the subsidiaries' Swiss parent FIFA, that Thrive and Kushner already have counsel able to challenge subpoenas once served, and that granting intervention would create 'unnecessary delay.' The court has not yet ruled on either UEFA's discovery application or the subsidiaries' intervention motion.
