The confirmed death toll passes 6,000 more than five weeks after the earthquakes. Separately, La Guaira's state governor states 1,579 people remain missing in the state — one of several conflicting missing-persons figures circulating alongside independent trackers citing tens of thousands unaccounted for nationwide.
