Bolivia: Evo Morales Forced Out After Election Controversy
Bolivian President Evo Morales resigned on November 10, 2019, after the Organization of American States (OAS) claimed to find 'clear manipulation' in the October 27 election results. The military and police withdrew support under pressure. A Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) analysis found statistical errors in the OAS report, concluding the original results may have been valid. The Trump administration praised Morales's removal; Bolivia's interim government received swift US recognition.
