Artemis II Crew Completes Historic Lunar Flyby — First Humans at Moon Since 1972

The Artemis II crew completed a close lunar flyby, marking the first time humans have traveled to the vicinity of the Moon since Apollo 17 in December 1972. The four-person crew — Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen — looped around the Moon before beginning the return trajectory to Earth. The mission validates Orion and SLS systems for the eventual crewed lunar landing on Artemis III.
