DHS/ICE Publishes Enforcement Update; Total Departures Exceed 2.5 Million
DHS published an enforcement update on April 4 highlighting ICE arrests of gang members, sex offenders, and stalkers as part of ongoing interior enforcement operations. Cumulative data showed the administration had surpassed 2.5 million total immigration departures since January 2025, including over 605,000 formal deportations and approximately 1.9 million self-departures. ICE detention population held at a record ~68,000. Critics noted that despite administration signals of targeted enforcement, a significant share of arrests continued to involve individuals with no criminal record.
