Prince of Wales Opens Isles of Scilly Health and Care Partnership
Prince William, the Prince of Wales, formally opened the Isles of Scilly Health and Care Partnership on 22 May 2026, continuing the Royal Family's public engagement programme during the period of political turmoil in Westminster. The partnership represents a novel integrated health model for the remote archipelago located 28 miles southwest of Land's End — combining NHS primary care, social care, and community health services under a single governance structure. The Isles of Scilly, with a permanent population of approximately 2,200, has historically faced significant challenges in delivering healthcare services to a geographically isolated community dependent on ferry and air links. The engagement formed part of the Prince of Wales's wider focus on preventive health, community resilience, and mental wellbeing — priorities central to his charitable work including the Earthshot Prize. The visit also highlighted the SNP government's and UK government's divergent approaches to integrated care governance.
