NATO's Rutte, Poland's Tusk Pledge More Support for Ukraine After Border Drone Strike on Train

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said on September 14 that the September 13 Russian drone strike near the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing, which hit a Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train roughly 2km from Poland, showed Vladimir Putin's "desperation and also his desire to sow fear and terror," and pledged increased military support for Ukraine along with strengthened NATO defenses on its eastern flank. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that Russia appears prepared to intensify operations near Ukraine's borders with European nations, saying "these coming weeks and months will be a time of very intensified actions on the Russian side." Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz separately reported recovering a suspected Russian military drone from the Baltic Sea.
