Day 1,547 Frontline Report: 910 Russian Losses, FPV Drone Kills Truck Driver in Kharkiv; Russia Net Territory Loss Accelerates
On May 21, 2026 (Day 1,547 of the full-scale invasion), Ukraine's General Staff recorded 910 Russian personnel eliminated in the past 24 hours, bringing cumulative Russian military losses since February 24, 2022 to approximately 1,352,980 killed and wounded. The single-day figure of 910 was slightly below recent peaks (which have reached 1,100–1,200 per day) but remains well above Russia's recruitment capacity. Separately, a Russian FPV drone strike on a cargo truck moving through Kharkiv region killed the 40-year-old driver — a reminder of Russia's persistent drone pressure against civilian infrastructure near the front. Russian forces also attacked an agricultural enterprise in Velyka Babka, Kharkiv region, targeting farmland and equipment. The latest four-week assessment (April 21–May 19, 2026) showed Russia's daily territorial advance rate had fallen to approximately 2.9 sq km per day — down from 9.76 sq km/day in early 2025 — as Ukraine's drone campaign, mid-range strikes on logistics and air defenses, and defensive operations combined to suppress Russian offensive momentum. Russia's net territorial loss of 69 square miles over four weeks marks the most significant reversal since the 2022 Kharkiv counteroffensive.
