Russia Launches Massive Combined Strike on Ukrainian Energy, Industrial, and Government Targets — 8+ Killed in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
On May 13, 2026 — Day 1,539 of the full-scale invasion — Russia launched a large-scale combined air strike targeting Ukraine's energy sector, military-industrial complex, and government buildings. The attack was executed in phases: an initial wave of Shahed-type loitering munitions was deployed to overload Ukrainian air defenses, followed by cruise missiles (air-launched and sea-launched) and ballistic missiles. Targets were struck across multiple regions including Lutsk, Rivne, Cherkasy, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, and Poltava Oblast. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast was among the hardest hit areas, with at least 8 civilians killed and 11 injured. Ukraine's STING Drone Hunters reported intercepting 100+ Shahed-type drones during the initial wave. The strike represented Russia's continuation of its systematic campaign to destroy Ukrainian energy infrastructure, following the collapse of the three-day Victory Day ceasefire (May 9–11) and Russia's resumption of large-scale attacks on May 12. Emergency services responded across multiple cities.
