Ukraine Strikes Russia's Kirishi Oil Refinery and Yeysk Airfield in Overnight Raid

Ukraine's defense forces struck the KINEF oil refinery in Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast — Russia's second-largest refinery by capacity at roughly 20 million tonnes of crude processed annually — during the night of August 29-30, igniting a fire in the plant's industrial zone. Leningrad Governor Alexander Drozdenko said regional air defenses intercepted 42 drones overnight. In the same operational window, Ukrainian forces also struck the Yeysk military airfield in Krasnodar Krai and a drone launch and storage facility in Millerovo, Rostov Oblast, with fires confirmed at both sites. The Kirishi strike extends Ukraine's 2026 campaign against Russian refining capacity, which has already hit facilities in Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Saratov, Salavat, Nizhnekamsk, and Krasnodar Krai this year.
