Russian Ballistic Missile and Drone Barrage on Kyiv Kills 17
A roughly two-hour barrage of Russian ballistic missiles and long-range drones struck Kyiv and its surrounding region overnight August 4-5, killing at least 17 civilians and wounding 44, per the UN human rights office in Ukraine. The overnight assault hit the Brovarskyi district railway platform and damaged homes, schools, transport infrastructure, water systems, and humanitarian warehouses. Zelensky said Ukraine has been receiving three times fewer anti-ballistic interceptors since the start of 2026, largely due to the war in the Middle East diverting Patriot supplies — all missiles in the barrage followed ballistic trajectories that only Patriot-class systems can intercept.
