Ukraine Strikes Ilsky Oil Refinery (Krasnodar, 16th Time), Destroys Pantsir-S1 Air Defense System, Hits Russian Vessel in Crimea — Day 1,559

| Ukraine War

On June 2, 2026 — Day 1,559 of Russia's full-scale invasion — Ukraine struck multiple Russian military and energy targets overnight. Ukrainian drones struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai in the early morning hours (after 3:00 a.m. local time), igniting a large fire visible more than 10 km away. The refinery has a processing capacity of approximately 6.6 million tonnes per year. This was at least the 16th Ukrainian strike on the Ilsky refinery since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, underscoring Ukraine's systematic campaign to degrade Russia's southern petroleum processing infrastructure. Ukraine's General Staff also confirmed: (1) a Pantsir-S1 air defense system was destroyed — eliminating a key short-range air defense platform Russia uses to protect logistics and command nodes; (2) a Russian vessel was struck in temporarily occupied Crimea. Separately, Ukraine's drone units hit an estimated 12 military and infrastructure targets deep inside occupied territory overnight as part of the simultaneous retaliatory campaign conducted while Russia's mass strike was incoming. Ukraine's energy infrastructure offensive has now struck at least 16+ Russian oil and energy facilities in 2026 alone (including Saratov refinery and Kirov pipeline station on June 1, Armavir and Taganrog on May 30, Novorossiysk on May 23, Volgograd Lukoil on May 29, and the Vtorovo Moscow pipeline station on May 24).
