Russian Overnight Strikes Hit Odesa Oblast and Kharkiv Infrastructure — Critical Systems Damaged
On the night of May 15–16, 2026, Russian forces conducted overnight strikes targeting critical and civilian infrastructure in Odesa Oblast and Kharkiv. Ukrainian air defenses engaged multiple incoming projectiles. Damage to infrastructure was confirmed in both regions; preliminary reports indicated no immediate mass casualty figures, as rescue and assessment operations were ongoing. The attacks continued Russia's sustained attritional campaign against Ukrainian energy, transport, and civilian infrastructure following the record-breaking May 13–14 aerial assault that killed 24 Ukrainians including 3 children. Ukrainian authorities urged residents in affected areas to take shelter. The Odesa Oblast military administration confirmed damage to infrastructure while Kharkiv regional officials reported additional strikes on the front-adjacent city. The overnight campaign again stretched Ukrainian air defenses across multiple directions simultaneously.
