Russia Launches 216+ Drones at Ukraine Hours After Ceasefire Expires — Kyiv Residential Building and Kindergarten Hit
Hours after the Trump-brokered 72-hour ceasefire expired at midnight on May 11/12, Russia launched a massive wave of 216+ drones at Ukraine — signaling an immediate return to large-scale aerial bombardment. In Kyiv's Obolon district, debris from a downed drone struck the roof of a 16-storey residential building, sparking a fire. A separate drone hit the roof of a kindergarten and shattered windows in a neighboring 4-storey residential building. In Dnipro, transport infrastructure was struck and at least one person was injured. Cherkasy region reported two people wounded, with residential buildings and cars damaged. Zhytomyr region sustained residential building damage. Chernihiv region came under drone attack. Kherson was struck by shelling, wounding a woman. Mykolaiv's energy infrastructure was hit, causing widespread blackouts. Over 80 aerial bombs and more than 30 airstrikes were also recorded across Ukraine. The scale and speed of Russia's post-ceasefire attack drew condemnation from Western officials and confirmed analyst fears that the 3-day truce was never intended as a genuine step toward peace.
