Trump-Putin Alaska Summit
The first direct US-Russia summit in over four years was held in Alaska. Trump and Putin discussed ceasefire terms without Ukraine present. Putin reportedly demanded Ukraine withdraw from the remaining 30% of Donetsk it controlled and bar NATO membership permanently. Trump presented it as progress; Zelenskyy and European leaders were alarmed that Ukraine's security interests were being negotiated without Ukrainian participation.
