Trump Approval Sinks to 34% — Record Second-Term Low in Reuters/Ipsos Poll

| Trump 45 & 47

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released April 28, 2026 found President Trump's approval rating has dropped to 34% — the lowest of his second term — with 63% of Americans disapproving. Only 22% of respondents approve of his handling of the cost of living, and 64% say the Iran war is 'not worth the cost.' G. Elliott Morris's polling average placed Trump at approximately 39% approval with a net approval of -18.8 points. The poll was conducted April 22–25, 2026 (n=1,007). The numbers reflect compounding pressures: Iran war oil shock ($4+ national gas average), continued inflation, and the WHCD shooting. Among his Republican base, approval remains around 82%. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll echoed the trend with Trump's economic approval at a second-term low. Only border security returned a net-positive approval among all measured issues.
