Neil Gorsuch Nominated to Supreme Court

Trump nominates Neil Gorsuch to fill the Supreme Court seat left vacant by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had blocked President Obama's nominee Merrick Garland for nearly a year. Gorsuch is confirmed April 7, 2017 on a 54–45 vote after Republicans invoke the 'nuclear option' to end filibuster for SCOTUS nominees.
