Truth Commission Presents 'Verdades Innegables' at Tlatelolco — 1,103 Disappeared Documented
The COVEHJ (Commission for Access to Truth, Historical Clarification and Promotion of Justice, 1965–1990) presents its second major report, 'Verdades Innegables. Por un México sin impunidad' (Undeniable Truths: For a Mexico without Impunity), at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco — the memorial site adjacent to the Plaza de las Tres Culturas. The report specifically documents 1,103 individuals forcibly disappeared during the dirty war (1965–1990), adding to the 8,594 total victims identified in August's 'Fue el Estado' report. The Tlatelolco massacre is identified as the foundational event in the broader pattern of state violence. The ceremony at the actual massacre site, eight days after Sheinbaum's state apology, gives the findings powerful symbolic resonance. The report urges Mexico to pursue further declassification of US records under the JFK Archives Act.
