PLA ADIZ Activity Rebounds to 5 Sorties, Northern and Eastern Sectors

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense detected 5 PLA aircraft sorties, 8 PLAN vessels and 7 official ships operating around Taiwan in the 24-hour window ending 06:00 (UTC+8) on August 18, 2026. Three of the five sorties crossed the Taiwan Strait median line, entering the northern and eastern sectors of Taiwan's ADIZ. Activity rebounded from the August 17 low of 1 sortie, continuing the post-Han Kuang 42 pattern of day-to-day fluctuation in the low-single-to-low-double-digit sortie range.
