Starship IFT-13 Aborts at T-0 After Raptor Turbopump Failures on Booster 20

SpaceX's automated flight computer triggered a launch abort at T-0 on the evening of July 16, 2026, just before Booster 20's 33 Raptor engines were due to reach full thrust for the IFT-13 liftoff. Elon Musk said six Raptors registered low LOX turbopump pressure, apparently caused by moisture in the pumps, preventing four engines from igniting; the abort sequence protected both the vehicle and Orbital Launch Pad 2 from damage. SpaceX said it would remove and replace two of the affected Raptor engines before attempting another launch, with Musk targeting an attempt as early as the following week pending inspections and a fresh FAA sign-off.
