SpaceX Joins Nasdaq-100 in Fastest-Ever Index Inclusion After IPO
SPCX joined the Nasdaq-100 index on July 7, 2026 — just 15 trading days after its June 12 Nasdaq debut, the fastest inclusion in the benchmark's history. The move was enabled by a Nasdaq rule change, announced June 26, that fast-tracks mega-cap IPOs into the index regardless of standard seasoning requirements. Despite a market capitalization around $2.3 trillion — comparable to Amazon's — SpaceX's initial index weighting is only about 1%, since weighting is based on free-float market cap that excludes Musk's large insider stake. The addition was expected to drive roughly $4.3 billion in passive buying as the roughly $800 billion in Nasdaq-100-tracking funds, led by Invesco's QQQ, rebalanced to include the stock.
