Lee Jae-myung Holds First South Korean State Visit to Mexico in 16 Years

President Lee Jae-myung met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico City for the first state visit to Mexico by a South Korean president in 16 years. The two governments signed 17 memoranda of understanding covering minerals, defense, aerospace (including FA-50 and UAV maintenance), artificial intelligence, space, culture, customs and supply chains, and concluded seven years of negotiations to revise their bilateral investment-protection treaty. The two leaders adopted a Korea-Mexico Joint Action Plan for 2026-2030.
