Ramaphosa Reshuffles GNU Cabinet, Demotes Steenhuisen

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a reshuffle of DA-occupied Government of National Unity cabinet posts following consultations with new DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis. Willie Aucamp was appointed Minister of Agriculture, replacing John Steenhuisen, who was moved to Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition. David Maynier became Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, and Dina Pule was named Minister of Social Development. Three DA deputy ministers — Samantha Graham-Mare, Sello Seitlholo and Mimmy Gondwe — were removed from the executive. Ramaphosa urged coalition partners to govern as a single unit rather than political opponents.
