Somalia Development Bank Announces First Investment at Mogadishu Finance Forum
The Somalia Development and Reconstruction Bank (SDRB) announced its first investment on September 19, 2026 at the Somalia Development Finance Forum in Mogadishu, held under the theme 'Financing Somalia's Next Chapter: From Recovery to Sustainable Development.' The forum brought together senior government officials, financial-sector leaders, private-sector representatives and development partners to discuss mobilizing capital for agriculture, livestock, fisheries and renewable energy. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said the government is 'committed to developing long-term investment approaches that create sustainable markets, strengthen the private sector and direct financing toward productive sectors.' SDRB Chairperson Hodan Osman said the bank's role is 'to close that gap by working with the government, development partners and commercial banks to prepare investments, share risks and expand long-term financing for Somalia's productive sectors.'
