AFRICOM Strikes Al-Shabaab Facility Near Saacow, Middle Juba

US Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting an Al-Shabaab facility in the vicinity of Saacow, Middle Juba region, on September 14, 2026, in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia. It is AFRICOM's fourth publicly disclosed Somalia strike in roughly two weeks, following the September 4 strike west of Mogadishu and the September 5 and September 8 strikes near Quumbi, Jubbaland. As with prior releases, AFRICOM withheld unit, aircraft, weapons and casualty details, citing operational security, and said the strike was intended to degrade Al-Shabaab's ability to threaten US forces and citizens abroad. The disclosure pushes the confirmed 2026 US airstrike total in Somalia to at least 82.
