Oman's SalamAir Launches First-Ever Direct Muscat-Mogadishu Flights
Omani low-cost carrier SalamAir launched the first-ever direct air link between Oman and Somalia on September 3, 2026, with twice-weekly service between Muscat International Airport and Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport. The Federal Government of Somalia welcomed the inaugural flight; Somalia becomes SalamAir's fourth African destination after Kenya, Egypt and Sudan. The route is intended to boost diaspora travel and trade links between the Gulf and the Horn of Africa, arriving as Somalia's security and aviation-safety picture remains under strain from the AUSSOM/UNSOS funding drawdown.
