Day 684: Man Chased on Foot and Shot Dead in Nueva Galicia, Culiacán — Early Morning Targeted Killing, Foot Pursuit Leaves Sneakers Behind
On Day 684 of the Sinaloa cartel civil war — June 7, 2026, at approximately 5:30 AM — an unidentified adult male (approximately 35–40 years old, bald, with tattoos on his back) was chased on foot by at least one attacker through the Fraccionamiento Nueva Galicia neighborhood in southern Culiacán and shot multiple times in the head. The victim's sneakers were found abandoned at a distance from the body, indicating he had been forced to flee on foot before being overtaken. The chase-and-execution pattern is characteristic of targeted narco-retribution killings. Mexican Army and municipal preventive police responded to the scene. The Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) opened an investigation. No faction claimed the killing; the foot-pursuit execution method is used by both Chapitos and La Mayiza factions in urban Culiacán. The killing occurred the morning after at least two other violent incidents on June 6 (the Valle Alto water purification business attack: 1 dead; and the Urbivilla del Roble food delivery driver killing). The continued pace of early-morning targeted killings indicates that neither the Murciélagos special forces deployment (Day 680, June 3) nor the emergency supervisory visit by the Defense Secretary and National Guard Commander (Day 681, June 4) has interrupted the Chapitos–La Mayiza operational tempo in Culiacán's residential neighborhoods.
