Day 725 — Sonora Tour Stop: Sheinbaum Presents Second Government Report in Hermosillo, Announces Guaymas Port and Highway Projects

President Sheinbaum presented her Second Government Report results at the Centro de Usos Múltiples in Hermosillo, Sonora, on September 26, 2026 (Day 725, Saturday) — one of the final stops of her nationwide "Honestidad y Resultados" accountability tour — alongside Governor Alfonso Durazo. Federal officials cited more than 20 billion pesos in Welfare Program spending in Sonora this year, with one in three Sonorans receiving federal benefits and 343,192 older adults receiving pensions. Sheinbaum highlighted joint federal-state infrastructure projects including modernization of the Port of Guaymas, the Guaymas–Chihuahua highway to improve connectivity toward Ciudad Juárez and the Arizona/Texas border crossings, an upgraded well-based water supply solution for Hermosillo (replacing an earlier dam proposal), and modernization of the Sonoyta–Puerto Peñasco highway. The government also announced action on Cananea labor disputes, an Integral Plan for Environmental and Social Justice for Cananea and the Río Sonora, and the restitution of 45,794 hectares of land to the Yaqui people.
