Day 701 — Sheinbaum Unveils Redesigned Mañanera Stage, Breaking From AMLO-Era Set

| Sheinbaum (2024–)

On September 2, 2026 (Day 701, Wednesday), President Sheinbaum resumed her morning press conference — now used for the "glosa" (line-by-line follow-up) of her Second Government Report — on a newly redesigned stage at the National Palace, the first change to "La Mañanera" set since López Obrador introduced the format in 2018. The old flat burgundy-and-white backdrop was replaced with three panels — two angled outward — forming a semi-curved space, still using burgundy, white and gray tones and retaining the "Conferencia de Prensa" screen. Reporters now sit noticeably closer to the podium than the roughly four-meter distance under the old layout; Sheinbaum remarked, "Ya los veo más cerca, antes casi no los veía." She said the redesign came from her presidential staff rather than any deliberate political signal.
