Day 693 — Sinaloa Congress Names Graciela Domínguez Nava Interim Governor, 31-6
On August 25, 2026 (Day 693, Tuesday), the Sinaloa Congress voted 31 in favor to 6 against, with zero abstentions, to designate Graciela Domínguez Nava as interim governor, resolving the succession question left open when the legislature approved Rubén Rocha Moya's indefinite leave on August 23. The session had originally been scheduled for Monday, August 24 but was suspended and reconvened the following day. Domínguez Nava, a Morena sociologist and former Sinaloa state deputy (2018–2021) and Secretary of Public Education and Culture (2021–2024) who was also serving as federal deputy for Mazatlán's District 1 before taking leave in June, becomes the state's third governor of 2026 after Rocha Moya and interim predecessor Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde.
