Day 680 — Mexican Air Force Sends 19.5 Tonnes of Earthquake Aid to Colombia
On August 12, 2026 (Day 680, Wednesday), two Mexican Air Force aircraft departed Felipe Ángeles International Airport for Pereira, Colombia, carrying 854 food packages (19.5 tonnes) of humanitarian aid plus Army support personnel, following Colombia's formal request for specific relief items through the Foreign Ministry. Sheinbaum said additional shipments on August 13 and 14 would bring the total to 2,562 food packages (58.5 tonnes), including water and medicine, destined for the hardest-hit cities: Pereira, Manizales, Cali, and Quibdó, after Monday's 7.4-magnitude earthquake killed more than 200 people.
