President Sheinbaum unveiled 'Plan Michoacán for Peace and Justice,' a 57-billion-peso (~US$3.1 billion) 12-point strategy targeting Michoacán state, which has seen sustained cartel violence from CJNG and the CSRL faction. The plan was announced against a backdrop of street protests in Uruapan, Morelia, and other Michoacán cities demanding security improvements. It includes approximately 2,000 additional federal troops and National Guard deployments, alongside investment in economic development, housing, healthcare, education, and institutional strengthening. She committed to monthly public progress reports at the mañanera through 2030.
