State Dept Formally Designates 8 Cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations

Secretary of State Marco Rubio formally designated eight entities as both Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists: the Sinaloa Cartel, CJNG, CDN, CDG, LNFM, Cárteles Unidos, Tren de Aragua, and MS-13. The designations took effect February 20, 2025 in the Federal Register, triggering new legal liabilities for any person or entity providing material support.
