Houthis Strike Saudi VLCC Amzan with Ballistic Missile Off Yanbu

| Saudi Arabia

Yemen's Houthi movement claimed a ballistic missile strike on the Bahri-owned VLCC Amzan (IMO 9693745) roughly 63 nautical miles west of the Red Sea port of Yanbu, sparking a fire on the main deck. Bahri and UKMTO confirmed all crew were safe with no injuries or environmental impact reported. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree called it a 'precise and direct hit,' part of the group's 'siege for siege' maritime campaign against Saudi-linked shipping launched in mid-July. Yanbu, roughly 600 miles from Houthi territory, is a key alternative export outlet for Saudi crude via the East-West Pipeline as the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed.
