Aramco and Pasqal Launch Saudi Arabia's First Quantum Computer and Middle East's First Commercial QCaaS Platform

Saudi Aramco and French quantum computing firm Pasqal officially inaugurated Saudi Arabia's first quantum computer at Aramco's Dhahran data center on May 18. The Pasqal Quantum Processing Unit uses neutral-atom technology controlling 200 programmable qubits, making it among the most advanced commercially deployed quantum systems in the region. Simultaneously, the partnership launched the Middle East's first commercial Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) platform, offering cloud-based access to quantum hardware for research and industrial applications. Planned use cases include port and supply chain logistics optimization, CO₂ storage simulations, oil well placement modeling, and drilling rig scheduling — all directly applicable to Aramco's core operations. Aramco's venture capital arm Wa'ed Ventures had invested in Pasqal in January 2023. The launch was timed to align with the Saudi AI investment announcements from Trump's May 13–14 visit, reinforcing Vision 2030's technology diversification agenda.
