UN Resolution 2085 Authorizes AFISMA Deployment to Mali

UN Security Council Resolution 2085 unanimously authorizes deployment of the African-led International Support Mission in Mali (AFISMA), paving the way for international military intervention. The resolution endorses an ECOWAS plan to deploy up to 3,300 troops and sets conditions on Mali committing to a political transition roadmap. AFISMA is intended to support Malian forces in recovering the north.
