MNLA Launches Tuareg Rebellion — Mali War Begins

| Sahel Insurgency

The National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA), formed largely from Tuareg veterans returning from Libya after Gaddafi's fall, launches simultaneous attacks on Malian army garrisons at Ménaka, Aguelhok, and Tessalit.
