|Quebec Independence

Premier-designate Paul St-Pierre Plamondon said the PQ will not swear an oath to the King and wants to keep the Lieutenant-Governor out of the swearing-in. The exemption faces a legal challenge. Reports say PQ members will be sworn in Oct. 15 and the cabinet announced Oct. 21; the PQ holds 59 of 127 seats, five short of a majority.
