Google Claims Quantum Supremacy with Sycamore

Google AI announces in Nature that its 53-qubit Sycamore processor performed a specific random circuit sampling task in 200 seconds that would take the world's best classical supercomputer approximately 10,000 years. This is the first claimed demonstration of quantum supremacy (quantum computational advantage). IBM immediately contests the claim, arguing classical simulation is possible with sufficient disk resources (~10,000 years becomes ~2.5 days).
