Education Reform: Teacher Evaluation System Approved

Constitutional amendment to Article 3 created the Servicio Profesional Docente — a nationwide teacher evaluation system — and stripped the SNTE teachers' union of control over hiring and promotions. The reform drew fierce opposition from the radical CNTE faction, particularly in Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Chiapas, who viewed it as an attack on labor rights.
