Pakistan's federal government is seriously considering imposing emergency rule under Article 232 or governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the political stronghold of imprisoned former PM Imran Khan and his PTI party. Federal ministers including Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry cited the provincial government's handling of terrorism and the breakdown of talks with PTI as justification. KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated governor's rule and emergency are 'final options' pending presidential and prime ministerial approval. JUI-F chief Fazal ur Rehman advised against the move. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar warned of strong resistance to any such imposition.
